The Role

Saira Trainers form a relationship with their students which goes beyond the Saira school. In many ways, the course prepares the student to be an employee, training them and taking them from the classroom to the workplace.  The trainer for many students may be the first introduction to hospitality, so it is important that the trainer be a passionate advocate of hospitality as an industry and as a career and be able to translate their passion to the student. The trainer is the mouth of Saira, they represent the brand in its entirety, a brand of high quality, of generosity, of respect, of discipline and of work/life balance. Saira Trainers are the eyes, ears and mouth of the company and are a consistent liaison between the project manager and the students. Each student must be treated fairly and equally, displaying no favouritism.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Before the Course begins:

●      To fully understand and contribute to all curriculum content where needed.

●      To assist with the final rounds of student interviews with the Project Manager.

●      To take part in all Train the Trainer sessions both independently and with Curriculum Directors.

●      To understand and be trained in “How to Lead the Saira Classroom”.

During the Program:

●      To be prepared for each class ahead of time and be in the classroom no less than 15 minutes before and after class to set up the room and clean up where necessary.

●      To ensure all technology needed is working and stored securely (e.g. projector, Wi-Fi, laptops and so on).

●      To monitor the pace of the class and ensure content is covered at a timely pace.

●      To ensure the written materials for students are printed and updated ahead of class.

●      To liaise and communicate with Guest Speakers and any questions they may have prior to visiting.

●      To be present during out of classroom education (including graduation) which could be on weekends or during evenings.

●      To be aware of and celebrate any birthdays of students during the course.

●      To conduct check-ins with the students on a weekly basis, a mid-point assessment and final assessment and share regular updates with the project manager.

●      To monitor each student and ensure they are grasping the concepts and skills to be able to begin employment after graduation.

In-between Programs:

●      To provide feedback on the experience and ways it could be improved.

●      To act as an ambassador for Saira and monitor the levels of turnover as well as the personal and professional happiness of the graduates.

●      To update the project manager on the status of graduates for 12 months following the program and then on an annual basis.

●      To maintain ongoing knowledge of Saira’s curriculum in preparation for work on future programs.

●      Task based assignments during lead time weeks between programs as delegated by the Project Manager and Content Directors.

Working Conditions & Education Requirements:

●      Indoors/outdoors during classroom teaching & excursions, out of classroom education, technical hands-on training.

●      Work Hours:  While the Saira program itself s often part-time for 3-4 hours per day, five days a week, the rest of the week may be dedicated to curriculum content revisions, community outreach, excursions and out of classroom education. While weekends will for the most part be respected, work hours during the week may run into evenings depending on the out-of-classroom educational activities.

●      Undergraduate degree or equivalent is preferred but not required.

Work Experience (Minimum Required):

Previous luxury / lifestyle hospitality experience is required (open to several different forms of hospitality including restaurants, cafes, hotels and so on). The trainer must have had experience in dealing with guests and be able to answer all types of questions from students with real life examples as much as possible.

No previous teaching experience is required, just the passion to learn our curriculum and impart this knowledge onto our students.

Special Skills/Knowledge Required To Perform Role:

●      Able to read, write and speak the English language proficiently.

●      Must have knowledge of basic Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

●      Must maintain a professional and well-groomed appearance.

●      Excellent organisational skills.

●      Advanced communication skills.

●      Passion for teaching and education as well as the hospitality industry.

Mental Demand

●      Requires constant alertness, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.

●      Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time.

●      Must be able to handle stress at busy periods, handling multiple students in classes       

●      Must react swiftly and make positive decisions under stress. 

●      Must be able to work under little or no supervision and take initiative and ownership of the program.
